What is the Star S4 Excimer Laser System?
The Star S4 excimer laser is a variable spot size scanning, eye tracking, and iris registration system used to treat refractive errors myopia, hyperopia, and/or astigmatism in LASIK and other procedures.
Features of the Star S4 Excimer Laser
Variable Spot Scanning
Variable beam sizes from as small as 0.65 mm up to 6.5 mm scan over the treatment area. This conserves tissue and reduces treatment time.
The first FDA approved fully automated, non-contact method of alignment to keep the treatment in the correct spot on the cornea. The laser system finds and unwraps the iris in preoperative and operative images. It selects prominent reference points on the iris and applies a set of sophisticated algorithms to find matching points. The laser system calculates the ablation torsional angle from multiple reference points and adjusts the treatment.
Variable Repetition Rate
The treatment is applied at varying rates from 6 Hz to 20 Hz which optimizes the treatment time.
ActiveTrak 3-D Active Eye Tracking
The laser system captures all three dimensions of intra-operative eye movements during the procedure helping with the accuracy of the treatment.
ActiveTrak Automatic Centering
The laser system locates and automatically sets the treatment center to the center of the eye to improve the outcomes of the laser treatment.
