ClearKone® Hybrid Contact Lens
ClearKone® is a new contact lens designed for patients with irregular corneas. Irregular corneas can occur from injury, scar tissue from corneal infection, or from corneal diseases such as:
Pellucid marginal degeneration
An irregular cornea corneal surface causes light to be focused on the retina in a blurred or distorted manner. This results in poor visual acuity which cannot be totally corrected with glasses.
ClearKone® Contact Lens Design
ClearKone® has a patent-pending design with a reverse geometry landing system. There is an outer soft lens blended with a rigid gas permeable in the center. The design allows the lens to vault over the cone or irregular cornea without touching to help maintain corneal surface integrity. The centration and stability of the hybrid platform keeps the optics of the lens centered over the central visual axis. This is improves the vision with decreased aberrations.
The unique design of the ClearKone® lens allows tears to fill in the areas of the irregular cornea under the lens. The ClearKone® lens hybrid design promotes good tear flow under the lens. This provides improved corneal health and aids in the removal of the lens.

The ClearKone® contact lens has a unique hybrid lens design with a central gas permeable rigid portion and a soft lens for the outer portion or skirt. The vaulting of the lens allows for the tear film or lacrimal lens under the lens to substantially lower the lens power to maximize vision clarity.
